A former member of President Biden’s COVID-19 advisory board believes Biden may have been fighting prostate cancer since the very start of his presidency.
Top oncologist Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel said he finds it hard to believe that such an aggressive form of cancer went undetected until now.
President Biden, 82, is now battling an aggressive form of prostate cancer that has spread to his bones. Doctors first flagged a “small nodule” on his prostate, which led to the diagnosis.
Though the test results were only just released, renowned oncologist Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel says this kind of advanced cancer likely wasn’t new.
During an appearance on Morning Joe, host Joe Scarborough said, “If prostate cancer has spread to the bone, then surely he had it while in office.”
Emanuel didn’t hesitate to agree. “Oh yeah,” he said. “He didn’t develop it in the last 100 or 200 days. He had it during his presidency—likely as early as 2021.”
He added, “I don’t think there’s any disagreement about that.”
Just days before President Biden’s prostate cancer diagnosis was made public, CNN’s Jake Tapper and Axios’ Alex Thompson dropped a bombshell exposé questioning his mental fitness. The timing has raised eyebrows.
CNN’s Chief Media Analyst Brian Stelter called the timing “extraordinary.” He suggested the White House may have released the cancer news to soften the impact of the book Original Sin: President Biden’s Decline, Its Cover-Up, and His Disastrous Choice to Run Again.
While Stelter stopped short of directly accusing Biden’s team of strategic timing, he noted: “This book was going to be a blockbuster no matter what.”
He added the diagnosis wouldn’t end the scrutiny over Biden’s mental state—but it might “briefly put the conversation on pause.”

Emanuel also said Biden would likely have taken the test with his doctor.

Former President Joe Biden is now weighing treatment options with his wife Jill, 73, and close family by his side. But with the cancer already spread to his bones, the prognosis looks bleak.
Doctors use the Gleason score to measure how aggressive prostate cancer is, with a scale from 1 to 10. Biden’s score? A worrying 9 — one of the highest possible.
That means his cancer cells look very abnormal and are likely to grow and spread fast, making it one of the most dangerous forms of the disease.
After the news broke, top U.S. doctors raised serious questions. How could a former president end up with such advanced cancer—especially one that’s usually caught early with routine blood tests?
Dr. Howie Forman, a Yale professor of radiology and public health, called it “inconceivable” that Biden wasn’t regularly screened while in office.
He pointed out that a simple PSA (prostate-specific antigen) test would have flagged the cancer much earlier. Given how aggressive Biden’s case is, Forman believes signs would have shown up well before this diagnosis.
