One of Scrubs(The sitcom) most memorable stars looked totally different as she stepped back into the spotlight.
Eliza Coupe, famous for her role as Denise Mahoney in the popular medical comedy Scrubs, made a stylish return to the spotlight at the premiere of her latest project, Netflix’s The Residence, on Wednesday (March 19).
The 43-year-old stunned on the red carpet in a dazzling gold dress with a plunging neckline and asymmetrical hemline.
She completed the look with black suede thigh-high boots and a bold black fur coat draped over her shoulders. Her blonde hair was styled in a shag cut, and her makeup featured a smokey eye with nude lips.
Coupe’s red carpet appearance comes 15 years after Scrubs wrapped up its nine-season run, but not everyone was impressed with her transformation.
After receiving criticism online for her look, she responded with a bold Instagram post.
Sharing a scene of herself pointing a gun at someone, she wrote: “My response to all the bad press and wildly altered photos of me floating around the internet. You are all so consistently ridiculous. Thank you for making me laugh. Xoxo.”
Her fans quickly rushed to defend her in the comments. “YES BRING THE TIGER OUT. F them, we love you and you are gorgeous. YOU LOOKED AMAZING,” one user commented.
Another wrote: “You’re gorgeous as always! Can’t wait to see the show!” A third added: “You are amazingly beautiful inside and out! And a bad a**!”
The Happy Endings star’s latest project, The Residence, is an intriguing mystery drama set in the White House staff quarters.
The show follows detective Cordelia Cupp, played by Uzo Aduba, who teams up with FBI special agent Edwin Park (Randall Park) to investigate the murder of the White House chief usher, A.B. Wynter, played by Giancarlo Esposito.
Coupe portrays Senator Margery Bay Bix in the series, which is inspired by The Residence: Inside the Private World of the White House by Kate Andersen Brower.
The series takes viewers behind the scenes of America’s most iconic address and is produced by Shondaland, with Scandal alum Paul William Davies as creator.
The impressive cast includes Susan Kelechi Watson, Jane Curtin, Jason Lee, Ken Marino, Al Mitchell, Edwina Findley, Barret Foa, Juliette Jeffers, Brett Tucker, Jodie Bianca Wise, Kylie Minogue, and many others.
Coupe’s viral red carpet moment isn’t the only thing sparking nostalgia for Scrubs fans.
Zach Braff, who played Dr. John “J.D.” Dorian, recently hinted at the possibility of a Scrubs revival.
Speaking to Entertainment Tonight in August, Braff said he believes it “gonna happen,” adding, “I’m gonna tell you something that nobody else is gonna get.
“Scrubs is a Disney show. Bill [Lawrence, the show’s creator] has a Warner Bros. deal. Once those two companies figure that out, I think the people will get what they want. I think it’s gonna happen.”
Braff also mentioned that reuniting the original cast would be a dream. “It would be so much fun with all my favorite people. We all still hang out. A lot of people who were on long shows say that, but it’s true,” he shared. “I was just on vacation with Sarah Chalke… I’m going to the beach with Bill next weekend. We’re all friends.”
