The public is curious about why Rosie O’Donnell decided to permanently leave the United States.
Through her online content, the comedian continues to hint at her move while keeping the real reasons under wraps.
Speculation grew after O’Donnell posted a video in early March, joking about learning to drive “on the wrong side of the road.”
She shared her driving experience, describing how she repeatedly hit the curb and once mistook it for a cat.
Eliza Dushku has retired from acting and now focuses on educating others about mental health.
Many public figures are leaving their homes to express their discontent with the current political climate in America.
Since relocating to Ireland, O’Donnell has found joy in exploring the country and adapting to its more relaxed lifestyle.
She is working towards obtaining Irish citizenship, as her grandparents originally came from Ireland.
O’Donnell highlighted that moving to Ireland has brought her happiness, though it hasn’t been without its challenges.
“I miss my other kids,” she shared in a recent interview, referring to her older children who stayed behind in the U.S.
While she longs for certain aspects of home, O’Donnell enjoys life in Ireland, appreciating the warm welcome she has received from the locals.
In a TikTok video posted on March 11, she described life in Ireland as “pretty wonderful,” emphasizing the fantastic reception and care from the Irish people, for which she is deeply grateful.
After keeping her true reasons for the move under wraps for some time, O’Donnell finally publicly revealed why she left the United States.
O’Donnell moved from America due to both the political climate and Donald Trump’s return to the presidency in 2025.
“When it is safe for all citizens to have equal rights there in America, that’s when we will consider coming back,” she declared.
Having opposed Trump for many years, she specifically criticized his administration, particularly how they handled LGBTQ+ rights.
In her view, she will only return to America as a citizen when all people have equal rights under the law.
Her decision to relocate to Ireland goes beyond simply seeking peace; it’s also a form of protest against what she perceives as unacceptable in the United States.
