Nicole Kidman’s latest role in the erotic film Babygirl is being called her boldest yet. “It captivated me; it didn’t scare me,” she told reporters earlier this year. From steamy scenes to her marriage with Keith Urban, Kidman opens up about it all — especially their fiery relationship.
At a recent film screening, Kidman admitted she felt burned out from the many graphic intimate scenes. But one surprising detail hooked her—the film’s title is actually a pet name from Urban. “He even has ‘Babygirl’ tattooed on the back of his neck,” she revealed, joking, “Keith’s not allowed to call anyone else that.”
The couple, who met 20 years ago, clearly know how to keep their marriage hot after 19 years. “They have plenty of secrets to a spicy relationship,” an insider told Closer. “Nicole and Keith, both 57, simply can’t keep their hands off each other!”
Kidman’s steamiest tip? “We have a double shower,” she told W. “The double-headed shower: key to a successful marriage!”
But it’s not just about the heat. Their bond runs deeper. Early on, they set important communication rules. “Our family priest told us right from the start, ‘Always kiss hello and kiss goodbye,’” Kidman shared with InStyle in 2019. “It just keeps you connected.”
Urban takes their connection a step further by writing love letters every night he’s away, Kidman revealed. They skip texting, favoring “voice-to-voice” or even “skin-to-skin” contact instead. “We talk all the time and FaceTime, but texting can be misinterpreted,” she told Parade in 2018. “I don’t want that between me and my lover.”
Physical time together is a top priority. Kidman made it clear that Urban doesn’t watch her intimate scenes on set. “We love being together,” she said. “We’ll fly overnight instead of spending a night apart. We’ll do whatever it takes to make it work.”
They’ve faced tough times too. Just four months into their 2006 marriage, Urban entered rehab for three months. Reflecting at Kidman’s AFI tribute, he said, “If you want to see what love in action really looks like, give that a whirl.” He added, “Nic pushed through every negative voice, probably even her own doubts. But she chose love.”
