A Ukrainian model suffered severe injuries during her birthday trip to Dubai, sparking an international mystery after she was found unresponsive by the roadside under unclear circumstances.
Maria Kovalchuk, a 20-year-old model from Ukraine, had traveled to the UAE in December 2024 to advance her modeling career and create content for her OnlyFans account.
On March 9, her birthday, two men—who presented themselves as professionals in the modeling industry—invited her to a party.
Maria informed her mother about attending the event and staying overnight with the two men she had recently met. Tragically, her family never heard from her again after that evening.
Maria’s scheduled flight to Thailand was missed, triggering growing concern from her mother and friends just two days later.
All contact with the model was lost as her phone remained switched off, and her social media activity came to a sudden halt—making it seem as though she had vanished without a trace.
The young woman’s disappearance sparked a frantic search across Dubai, with her friends reaching out to authorities and online communities in hopes of finding her. As time passed, concerns for her well-being grew more intense.
Speculation swirled online, with many fearing she had fallen victim to human trafficking, as some believed she was lured into exclusive parties that operated behind the scenes on private social networks.
One such theory connected her disappearance to the so-called “Porta Potty” parties—an underground and troubling trend in Dubai where women are allegedly exploited in return for significant sums of money.
Russian lawyer Katya Gordon issued a public warning urging young women and their families to steer clear of such events.
“Stay away from these dangerous, money-driven gatherings, as they can have fatal consequences,” she cautioned, heightening public fear surrounding Maria’s fate.
Russian model Angelina Doroshenkova, who also received an invite to the party but declined and returned to Russia, added, “We’re all hoping for the best and are deeply thankful to everyone involved in the search.”
Police found Maria clinging to life ten days later, abandoned on a Dubai roadside. She was rushed to the hospital where doctors immediately performed emergency surgeries to treat her shattered spine, fractured legs, and broken arms. Her phone, passport, and all personal belongings were missing.
Medical teams have carried out three critical surgeries, with a fourth procedure planned. Maria’s condition remains critical, and she is currently unable to speak.
Her mother, Anna, told Ukrainian media that Maria had no identification, phone, or possessions when discovered. “She’s undergone three surgeries and cannot speak,” Anna shared.
Images circulated on social media show Maria unconscious in a hospital bed, surrounded by family and medical staff who continue to pray for her recovery.
Dubai Police released an official statement sharing the results of their investigation, which introduced a shocking twist to the troubling case.
Authorities reported that Maria had entered a restricted construction site on her own, where she suffered a near-fatal fall from an elevated platform.
“The Ukrainian national who was previously reported missing is now hospitalized and receiving medical attention, with her family by her side,” officials confirmed. “A thorough investigation has determined that her severe injuries resulted from entering a secured construction zone alone and falling from a height.”
Dubai Police also assured the public that they are maintaining constant communication with her family and relevant agencies to provide necessary assistance.
Authorities urged the public and media to refrain from spreading unverified information and to respect the privacy of Maria and her family as they face this challenging time.
Despite the official statement, numerous questions linger, as investigators have yet to clarify how Maria ended up in such a dire situation or why she remained undiscovered at the isolated site for several days.
