Trump Gearing Up For A THIRD Term
Eric Trump hints his father could run for a third term in 2028.
In a recent photo, the 41-year-old sported a “Trump 2028” hat, sparking speculation that the former president might stay in power well beyond his second term.
With everything up in the air, anything seems possible now.
Eric posted a smiling pic on Instagram, wearing a “Trump 2028” hat in classic MAGA colors, linking to the Trump store.
While he seemed confident, critics on X quickly fired back, calling the idea “unrealistic” and accusing the Trumps of cashing in on their supporters.
One user commented, “It’s over. Let it go,” while another pointed out the country’s current “anything goes” phase.
Critics slammed the idea, with one remarking, “Trump 2028? Can’t even learn the Constitution,” referencing the 22nd Amendment, which limits presidents to two terms.
At 78, Trump could still serve a third (and even fourth) term, staying in office until 2037. The wild path? VP JD Vance picks Trump as his running mate in 2028, then resigns after winning, allowing Trump to step back into power. But for this to work, Trump would need to stay popular enough to win two more elections.
Many presidents, including Ronald Reagan and Harry S. Truman, have criticized the 22nd Amendment.
Reagan called it “ridiculous,” while Truman said it made second-term presidents “lame ducks.” Trump, too, hasn’t ruled out staying longer, stating, “A lot of people want me to do it,” but added, “It’s very early in the administration. I’m focused on the current.”
Trump made it clear he enjoys “working” and said, “I’m not joking, but it’s too early to think about it.
There are ways to make it happen.” The 22nd Amendment, ratified in 1951, limits presidents to two terms, following FDR’s four consecutive wins during WWII.
