Hilaria Baldwin has responded to the criticism after a viral red carpet moment where she reprimanded her husband, Alec Baldwin, for interrupting her during an interview.
The incident took place at the grand re-opening of Planet Hollywood Times Square in New York City, where the couple, married since 2012, were promoting their TLC reality series, The Baldwins.
During the interview, the 66-year-old 30 Rock star interrupted while Hilaria, 41, was talking about their new show.
She responded by saying, “Oh my God. When I’m talking, you’re not talking,” and added, “No. When I’m talking, you’re not talking.” She then joked to the camera, saying, “This is why we’ll have to just cut him out of the show.”
The exchange quickly went viral on social media, with some users criticizing Hilaria’s behavior.
One user on X (formerly Twitter) commented, “I’m no Alec Baldwin fan, but this clip is shocking. On the red carpet, he’s supporting Hilaria, saying ‘It’s gonna be great, you’re a winner,’ and she responds aggressively: ‘No talking while I’m talking!’ TWICE.”
They added, “This is classic narcissistic control—public humiliation, dominance, and making sure the spotlight is ONLY on her. He looks completely defeated.”
Another user wrote, “Who humiliates their husband, especially in public? I almost feel sorry for him,” while a third commented, “Wow! Very inappropriate to talk like that! I’m not a fan of Alec Baldwin either, but this woman shows zero respect for her husband. I actually feel sorry for him for once.”
In response to the backlash, Hilaria shared a playful video on Instagram showing herself and Alec in bed, lip-syncing to the audio from the original interview.
Hilaria then asked her husband, “And that is called, what’s the word of the day?” to which the It’s Complicated actor responded, “Manterrupting.”
They jokingly coined the term “correctile dysfunction” to describe the interruption, with Hilaria adding, “The whole point is that we interrupt each other all the time.”
Shortly after, one of their seven children tried to enter their room, prompting Hilaria to say, “OK, so now that we’ve cleared all of that up, give me a kiss just so they know.”
The couple’s playful response received mixed reactions. Some followers praised their relationship, with one commenting, “You two are Great!! The love for one another and your children is a beautiful thing. I like authenticity.”
Another joked, “‘MANTERRUPTING’ — making a t-shirt for my husband today! It should help him in public.”
However, others felt the response didn’t serve as effective “damage control” for the initial backlash.
Hilaria addressed the situation further in another Instagram video, playfully teasing Alec about fans claiming they could treat her better.
She whispered to him, “I’m having a lot of women tell me they’d treat me better than I’d treat you. Do you want to make a change?”
To which Baldwin jokingly responded, “Yeah, I think this isn’t working.”
