A potential new romance is sparking for Sydney Sweeney as her wedding plans appear to be cooling off.
The actress seems to have rekindled an old flame with rumored ex Glen Powell after they were seen together in Dallas, Texas, shortly after news of her breakup with fiancé Jonathan Davino surfaced.
Sources recently disclosed that the Euphoria star and Davino, 41, called off their planned May wedding and decided to take some time apart.
Sweeney, 27, began dating the restaurant entrepreneur in 2018, and he proposed four years later.
A source revealed: “They were supposed to get married this spring, but the wedding is not happening, and they’re not discussing it further. Sydney wanted to cancel everything and just couldn’t handle the stress.”
In beach photos posted to Instagram last week, the White Lotus star was seen without her wedding ring.
While the exact reasons for the breakup remain unclear, one thing is evident—Sweeney’s much-discussed “friendship” with Anyone But You co-star Powell, 36.
The two were both in Powell’s home state over the weekend for his sister Leslie’s wedding, which fueled rumors that the undeniable chemistry they shared two years ago was more than just speculation.
The pair previously leaned into romance rumors while promoting their 2023 film. However, they both denied any romantic involvement, though they acknowledged the undeniable chemistry. Powell even said: “Sometimes you just have to lean into it a bit. It worked wonderfully.”
At the time of filming Anyone But You, both were in relationships, with Powell dating model Gigi Paris. Their three-year relationship ended shortly after production wrapped.
Despite fans eagerly hoping for the former co-stars to get together, Glen Powell’s mom, Cyndy Powell, recently shut down the rumors.
In a phone call with DailyMail.com, she said: “They’re definitely not together. It was just, like, she was there (at the wedding) with her friend.”
She explained that the actress is “really close friends” with their entire family, calling the romance rumors “silly” and insisting there is “nothing going on behind closed doors.”
The actor’s mother also added: “He’s the kindest person, and he is so others-oriented. He loves his family, he loves his friends. And Sydney is a friend.”
“They’ve been friends for so long. They’ve known each other for ages, and they’ve both been single, together, and with other people over the years. They could have made anything happen at any point, but he’s surrounded by so many people who care about him, and he cares about them. He has a wonderful group of friends who look out for each other. It’s really nice.”
When asked how she would feel if their relationship did turn romantic, she replied: “That’s none of my business. I just want what’s best for everyone. I hope he finds someone who loves him unconditionally, and that he loves them the same way, and that they take care of each other and live happily ever after.”
While Powell is one of Hollywood’s most sought-after bachelors, his mom revealed that he’s not yet ready for his “happily ever after.”
She shared: “He’s too busy right now. But he’s a family man. He wants a family, and he does want his happily ever after. It’s just not the right time.”
Powell’s mother also made it clear that the entire family “loves” Sydney.
She added: “We love Sydney. We’ve always considered her a really, really good friend. We spent a lot of time together, but we haven’t seen her in a while. She’s truly a friend, and we all enjoy her company.”
