Donald Trump responded after officials announced Joe Biden’s diagnosis with “aggressive” cancer.
Biden’s team confirmed he has prostate cancer after doctors found a nodule during tests for worsening urinary symptoms.
A spokesperson said he received the diagnosis on Friday: “Prostate cancer, Gleason score 9 (Grade Group 5), with metastasis to the bone.”
They added: “Though aggressive, the cancer is hormone-sensitive and can be managed. The President and his family are reviewing treatment options.”
Doctors discovered one of the most severe forms of the disease.
A Gleason score of 9 signals rapid growth, per CNN and Sky News experts.
The Mayo Clinic explains: “The Gleason score and grade group show how fast prostate cancer is growing. That speed is called the cancer’s grade.”
After Biden’s diagnosis was confirmed this weekend, political leaders across the aisle reacted swiftly — including Donald Trump.
“Melania and I are saddened to hear about Joe Biden’s recent medical diagnosis,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
“We send our warmest wishes to Jill and the family, and we wish Joe a fast and successful recovery.”
Several Republican lawmakers also offered support.
Senator Susan Collins said, “Wishing him and his family well as he begins treatment.”
Senator Thom Tillis added, “Praying for his full recovery.”
Senator Mike Lee called it “sad news.”
Even Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, a frequent Biden critic, expressed empathy:
“I was sorry to see this news. Cancer is truly awful. My Dad passed away in 2021 with cancer. Prayers for Joe Biden and his family.”
The 81-year-old stepped back from the 2024 race after a heavily criticized debate performance in June 2023.
Since leaving office in January, he has mostly avoided public appearances.
During the debate, Biden looked frail and had trouble finishing sentences, raising doubts about his fitness for another term.
Though doctors haven’t linked his cancer to these struggles, the diagnosis reignites concerns about the health of aging U.S. leaders — especially with 78-year-old Donald Trump back in office and poised to become the oldest president if he finishes his term.
