Actor and activist Sean Penn appeared on “The Jim Acosta Show” podcast, where he made bold statements about former President Donald Trump.
On the May 1 episode, Penn, along with Rep. Eric Swalwell and Jim Acosta, discussed Trump’s leadership and its negative impact on the nation.
Swalwell highlighted the consequences, saying, “We’re assessing those making deals with Trump that undermine democracy. There will be a day of reckoning. With Trump’s poll numbers under 40 percent, accountability is coming.”
Sean Penn chimed in with his own perspective, saying, “Before [Nayib] Bukele faces another leader, we need to consider the worst-case scenarios. I think it’s a reasonable theory that Trump is like someone whose spouse leaves them for another person, and then they resort to drastic measures, like murder, because if they can’t have her, no one can.”
When Acosta asked if Penn thought Trump would try to remain president, Penn replied, “I think he might try to destroy the world before he ages out of life.”
Trump has expressed a desire to extend his presidency for a third term, making him potentially the second president in U.S. history to do so, after Franklin D. Roosevelt, who served from 1933 to 1945.
In a March NBC News interview, Trump stated that “a lot of people want me to do it” when discussing a third term. He added, “But, I mean, I basically tell them we have a long way to go. It’s very early in the administration. I’m focused on the current.”
When asked if he’d consider serving a third term, the 78-year-old political leader replied, “I like working.”
