Oklahoma City bomber Timothy McVeigh broke down in his final days, insiders reveal.
The man who killed 168 people in the 1995 attack turned into an emotional wreck as execution day neared.
At 33, McVeigh reportedly wept, begged, and unraveled as he prepared for his death.
McVeigh Cracked Under Pressure, Insiders Say
A source revealed Timothy McVeigh dropped his tough-guy act as death approached.
“He lost the strong, silent persona,” the insider said. “He turned back into the cowardly punk he always was.”
McVeigh reportedly suffered nightmares and woke up screaming, “No! Don’t kill me! I wanna live!”
Although McVeigh once claimed he bombed the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building to “teach the government a lesson” over the Waco siege, everything changed behind bars.
“At night, he saw children burning,” the source shared. “He mumbled apologies in the dark. But by daylight, he tried to act tough again—he just couldn’t hold it together.”
Timothy McVeigh Broke Down as Execution Approached
McVeigh refused spiritual guidance and grew moody and withdrawn as his final hours ticked by.
“He had a full-blown meltdown,” the source said. “One day, he lost control and soiled himself. Another day, he vomited and begged for a doctor, crying, ‘It hurts, it hurts.’”
Guards reportedly showed zero sympathy. “They saw him as pathetic,” the insider added. “He collapsed under the weight of what he did.”
Though once honorably discharged from the Army, McVeigh couldn’t mask his fear of death. “He finally faced the horror of his actions,” the source said. “And when it came time to pay, he showed his true colors—a coward terrified of hell.”
McVeigh spent his final years in ADX Florence, a supermax prison in Colorado. In 1999, officials moved him to USP Terre Haute, Indiana, where he awaited execution.
He requested two pints of mint chocolate chip ice cream as his last meal. McVeigh chose not to give a final statement, instead submitting the poem Invictus, ending with the defiant line: “I am the master of my fate. I am the captain of my soul.”
Officials executed him by lethal injection on June 11, 2001.
Terry Nichols, McVeigh’s former Army training partner and bombing accomplice, received 161 consecutive life sentences without parole.
He now serves his time at ADX Florence—the most secure prison in the world.
