Former President Donald Trump recently experienced a skin cancer scare after a routine medical examination revealed benign lesions on his body.
According to doctors, the lesions were linked to prolonged sun exposure, raising concerns about his long-term skin health.
The lesions identified on Donald Trump’s skin were diagnosed as actinic keratosis (AK) — a rough, scaly skin condition considered precancerous due to its potential to develop into squamous cell carcinoma, a common form of skin cancer.
Actinic keratosis typically appears in sun-exposed areas such as the face, neck, ears, and hands. While it’s a warning sign, the Skin Cancer Foundation notes that only about 10% of AK cases progress into actual skin cancer.
The medical report also highlighted that Trump’s head, ears, nose, and throat showed no significant abnormalities — aside from existing scarring on his right ear attributed to a past gunshot wound.
The report also confirmed that Donald Trump’s hearing is “normal” and emphasized that he remains in “excellent cognitive and physical health,” fully capable of performing his duties as Commander-in-Chief and Head of State.
The detailed medical summary was issued by Walter Reed physician Capt. Sean P. Barbabella and delivered to White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt.
“On April 11, 2025, President Donald J. Trump underwent his annual physical exam at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center,” Capt. Barbabella stated. “I personally conducted and supervised the comprehensive evaluation, which included a full range of diagnostic tests, lab work, and consultations with 14 specialized medical professionals—all in alignment with the guidelines of the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF).”
According to Capt. Sean P. Barbabella’s medical report, former President Donald Trump’s lungs were “clear on examination,” with a chest CT scan revealing no abnormalities.
The cardiac assessment further showed no cause for concern, as Trump’s heart exhibited a regular rate and rhythm, along with normal heart sounds. Advanced cardiac testing—including an electrocardiogram (EKG) and echocardiogram—also confirmed no abnormalities.
“His heart function is normal, with a healthy ejection fraction and no issues with blood flow to his extremities,” Barbabella stated.
The report summarized Trump’s overall condition as “excellent,” citing strong cardiac, pulmonary, neurological, and general physical function.
“President Trump maintains an active lifestyle, which significantly contributes to his well-being,” the report added, noting his daily routine includes frequent meetings, public engagements, press interactions, and regular victories on the golf course.
“President Trump exhibits excellent cognitive and physical health and is fully fit to carry out the responsibilities of Commander-in-Chief and Head of State,” the medical report concluded.
However, while the report painted a picture of robust health, it did not address the unexplained bruise recently spotted on Trump’s hand during a meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron—raising questions among observers.
The release of the report follows Trump’s own confident remarks about his health after undergoing his annual physical exam. Speaking to reporters, the 78-year-old former president said, “I did well,” after spending nearly five hours at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Maryland.
“I was there for a long time. I think I did very well,” Trump added, describing the session as involving “every test you can imagine.”
While Trump holds the distinction of being the oldest individual ever sworn in as President, some medical experts have speculated that his recent weight loss could signal a more serious underlying health condition—though this remains unconfirmed.
