At LAX, the singer was stopped and asked if she intended to continue consuming her unusual remedy of snake semen, and she responded boldly. While many might prefer a glass of whiskey or an ice-cold lager, Jessica Simpson apparently chooses snake semen as her beverage of choice.
As bizarre as it sounds, the “Irresistible” singer revealed last week that she uses a Chinese herbal remedy containing reptile extract to help prepare her vocal cords while touring. Although there’s no scientific evidence to support her claim that snake semen is beneficial—and I highly advise against consuming it—the Texas native defended her choice by saying, “I don’t know. My vocal coach recommended it, and when we looked up the ingredients, it turned out to be snake sperm.”
One of her friends even shouted “no!” before asking if it was similar to tea, to which Jessica replied, “It’s like honey. If you want excellent vocal performance, you’ve got to drink snake sperm.”
The celebrity has faced online backlash, with one person commenting: “Jessica out here sipping ancient wisdom shots without checking the label—turns out it’s snake juice with extra protein. Cheers to blindly trusting your vocal cords to reptile romance!”
But let’s take a closer look at what she actually said.
In a brief clip shared on Instagram last Friday (March 28), Simpson explained: “They’re like, ‘What are you drinking?’ because it’s this Chinese herbal thing.”
A second person commented: “At this point, Jessica’s vocal warm-up routine sounds like a deleted scene from a sci-fi documentary. Whatever works, I guess.”
However, despite the concerns raised by others, Simpson – who recently finalized her divorce from her husband of 10 years, Eric Johnson – remained firm in her stance when speaking to a TMZ reporter at LAX on Sunday (April 6).
She explained how it “just really clears my throat,” adding, “I’m just a great singer when I have snake sperm.”
When asked if she planned to keep consuming snake ‘seed,’ she enthusiastically responded: “Of course! Are you kidding me? Yeah!””
Later, she even joked, “Maybe I’ll make my own.”
In response to the video, one user tweeted: “Hey, if she likes swallowing sperm, leave her alone!”
Another commenter added, “Wait? She drinks snake sperm to help her vocal cords?”
A third chimed in with a joke: “I guess if it works for her – it works – frog balls are next for … who knows.”
Personally, I think I’ll stick to water, thanks!
