Controversial comedian Russell Brand, who is facing multiple charges of rape and sexual assault, once proudly spoke about attending one of Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ notorious “White Parties,” despite being married to singer Katy Perry at the time.
“When I disconnect from my spiritual center, I end up making all sorts of foolish decisions,” Brand said, adding, “Luckily, one of those poor choices wasn’t attending a Diddy party.”
Brand also recounted a time when he and Combs flew to Las Vegas, but he claimed he left before things escalated too much. He remarked, “Honestly, I had my own little Diddy-style party, which, in the end, was totally aboveboard, legit, and at times, rather boring.”
Brand is currently facing sexual assault accusations on both sides of the Atlantic. Last week, the Forgetting Sarah Marshall star was charged with rape, indecent assault, and two counts of sexual assault in the U.K.
The London Metropolitan Police also charged the actor with oral rape following an 18-month-long investigation, according to a bombshell report.
At the same time, Brand is facing potential prosecution in the U.S. over an alleged sex assault that took place on the set of the 2010 Arthur remake. An unnamed woman claims that Brand exposed himself to her in front of the cast and crew, later following her into a bathroom and assaulting her while she was working as an extra on the film.
Both Brand and Warner Bros. have denied these allegations.
The comedian-turned-Conservative podcast host has accused his alleged victim of being “unable to distinguish acting from reality.”
Brand’s U.S. legal team issued a statement, saying: “Mr. Brand has a reasonable belief that criminal prosecution is possible in the U.S. based on allegations of criminal sexual misconduct, of which he has been falsely accused by both this civil plaintiff and several others through the media.”
Shortly after being charged with sexual assault, Brand addressed the allegations on X (formerly known as Twitter), stating: “I’ve always told you guys that when I was young and single, before I had my wife and family, I was a fool. I was a fool before I lived in the light of the Lord.”
He continued, “I was a drug addict, a sex addict, and an imbecile. But what I never was, was a rapist. I’ve never engaged in nonconsensual activity. I pray that you can see that by looking in my eyes.”
Brand concluded, “I’m now going to have the opportunity to defend these charges in court, and I’m incredibly grateful for that.”
