The sad event happened around 10:00 AM at Kuykendall Stadium during a track and field event. According to the police, an argument between two students led to one stabbing the other. Despite efforts by police and emergency workers, including CPR and a blood transfusion, Austin died from his injuries.
Austin had been at the event with his twin brother, Hunter. His death has left family, friends, and the community in shock, with many calling the incident a “senseless” act. People have been sharing Austin’s last tweet, posted on March 31, where he wrote: “Faith that god got me and my work will pay off.” His message is being seen as a reflection of his strong character.
To help the family with the loss, a GoFundMe page was set up by Austin’s father, Jeff Metcalf. Jeff described his son as a bright young man with a great future. He also praised Austin’s leadership, love for football, and his 4.0 GPA. Austin was excited about his future and had been looking forward to continuing his football career.
The Frisco Independent School District shared their condolences, expressing sympathy to everyone affected by this loss.
Austin’s brother, Hunter, explained that the argument started when Austin asked another student to leave the school’s tent. Hunter said he didn’t see the stabbing and called it a senseless act.
The police have arrested 17-year-old Karmelo Anthony, who is charged with the fatal stabbing. The Frisco Police Department also expressed their grief and sympathy for the family and community.
