Kanye West has reportedly left for Japan amid the ongoing backlash over his recent controversial remarks and actions, including wearing a full KKK outfit during a disjointed interview.
The rapper has faced criticism from former friends and various organizations for his disturbing behavior, and he is now seeking to rebuild his life abroad.
Just after Kanye West appeared for an interview wearing a custom black Ku Klux Klan robe and hood, paired with a Nazi swastika necklace, he reportedly left for Japan. His provocative outfit has sparked outrage, with critics back home condemning his choice of attire.
The Anti-Defamation League strongly criticized the musician, with a spokesperson telling Radar: “There is absolutely no excuse—none at all—for a celebrity to wear a KKK robe and swastika chain for shock value. It’s deeply offensive.”
They added, “We’ve already seen antisemitic incidents stemming from Kanye’s previous remarks. At a time when antisemitic incidents are at historic levels, these actions send a powerful, harmful message. He needs to stop this, now.”
In the same interview, Kanye West launched into a tirade against his ex-wife Kim Kardashian and her entire family, reignited his feud with Jay-Z, and boldly proclaimed himself “God on Earth.”
Shortly after, West traveled east to Japan, claiming it was a necessary move for his own safety. While wrapping up the interview, he invited podcast host DJ Akademiks to accompany him on his journey and revealed that the decision to leave had been prompted by a series of death threats.
West said: “I’m leaving because I got, like, all these death threats. I just thought, like, not that I’m particularly afraid of the threats, or afraid to die, it’s just…” He then trailed off, fumbling through his words without completing his sentence.
Kanye West has been a regular visitor to Japan, having spent an extended period there last year with his wife Bianca Censori. However, it seems even Japan is growing weary of his behavior, particularly after he made Censori attend the recent Grammy Awards in an almost completely nude outfit.
The controversial stunt has now jeopardized a $20 million deal he had in place for two upcoming concerts at the Tokyo Dome.
An entertainment industry insider revealed: “The investors in Japan backing the concerts are extremely upset by this. It’s highly likely they’ll pull the funding for the shows.”
The source added, “He has severely misjudged the tolerance of the Japanese people toward these kinds of actions.”
It’s unclear whether Bianca Censori accompanied Kanye West on his overseas trip, but her absence during the podcast interview raised eyebrows, especially amid ongoing rumors about their marital issues.
West is reportedly attempting to repair his relationships with both Censori and his favorite vacation home. A source shared: “Japan is undergoing a cultural awakening around women’s rights, and the MeToo movement is particularly strong here.”
The insider continued, “What he did is being perceived as an act of coercive control, which is completely unacceptable. He has drastically misjudged Japanese culture. The stunt was seen as creepy beyond belief and has been met with shock and disgust in Japan.”
