Despite the backlash, Mackie remains steadfast in his beliefs. For him, raising respectful, hardworking, and humble young men is the priority—no matter how society changes.
Jan Schwieterman, famous for his role in Good Burger, has sadly passed away at the age of 52.
The actor’s death was announced earlier this month in a touching Facebook post by his brother, Chad Schwieterman.
“With a heavy heart, I share the passing of my brother, Jan (JP) Schwieterman,” he wrote on March 1. “He recently learned he had an aggressive form of stage 4 cancer and passed away yesterday evening. Please keep our family in your thoughts and prayers during this tough time. Rest in peace, brother. We love you and miss you.”
An obituary confirmed that Schwieterman passed away on February 28 at Mercy Hospital in Washington, Missouri.
Born on September 30, 1972, in Bluffton, Indiana, Schwieterman took great pride in being an Eagle Scout.
After high school, he moved to California to chase his acting dreams, and soon landed a role that would define his career.
In the 1997 Nickelodeon hit Good Burger, Schwieterman portrayed Kurt Bozwell, the slick, power-hungry owner of the rival Mondo Burger, who goes up against Ed and Dexter, played by Kel Mitchell and Kenan Thompson.
The film also featured cameo appearances by Carmen Electra, Shaquille O’Neal, and Linda Cardellini.
In addition to Good Burger, Schwieterman appeared in films such as American Intellectuals and Warlock III: The End of Innocence in 1999. He also made guest appearances on shows like ER, NightMan, McKenna, and Felicity.
His last credited film was Along the Way in 2007, following a seven-year break after 2000’s Fallen Arches.
Outside of acting, Schwieterman had a love for travel, visiting many countries throughout his life. He was also passionate about photography and painting, studied martial arts, and was a fan of Dungeons and Dragons.
He is survived by his mother, Clara Reed; father, LeeRoy Schwieterman; sisters Megan and Vanessa; and brother Chad.
A memorial mass was held on March 4 at St. Paul’s Church in Berger, Missouri. The family requested that memorial donations be made to the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas.
After sharing his brother’s obituary online, Chad posted a final message thanking those who reached out. “Thank you, everyone, for your support. We miss JP deeply and appreciate your thoughts and prayers,” he wrote.
Our thoughts are with Schwieterman’s family, friends, and fans during this difficult time.
