Amy Schumer has attracted widespread online attention for her candid humor, which recently stirred reactions when she spoke about filming her Trainwreck scene with John Cena.
In the 2015 romantic comedy Trainwreck, Schumer played a carefree reporter opposite Cena’s character, Steven, a gym-obsessed love interest.
One of the film’s intimate bedroom scenes became a major topic of conversation among audiences, with Schumer often revisiting the experience in interviews.
Reflecting on Cena’s physique, Schumer once humorously remarked that his buttocks were “like a complete universe, not of human nature.” She added, “It didn’t even feel human. It felt like a refrigerator was pressing against my body.”
According to Schumer, she remained mostly motionless during the romantic scene, joking that Cena had the harder job. “I just did what I usually do during sex — I just laid there,” she quipped.
Cena, however, shared a different perspective, admitting that the role was challenging and that filming the scene felt awkward for him.
In a previous interview, Conan O’Brien admitted that the scene made him feel uncomfortable, but noted that discomfort was exactly what the production team was aiming for—and they achieved it.
According to Cena, during his appearance on Club Shay Shay, the original script had lines written for his character, but the production later chose to take the scene in a different direction.
“Amy is an angel, she made the environment so comfortable,” Cena recalled. “But then once I got the role, they eventually told me, ‘Yeah, it’s a sex scene.’”
“They asked for elaborate, over-the-top stunts, plus all the lines I had memorized beforehand,” Cena explained. “Then they told me none of those lines would actually be used.”
In an interview, Cena admitted that his background in wrestling didn’t prepare him for the unique challenges of acting on a Hollywood set.
“Everyone watching at home thinks we’re completely alone,” he said, “but there’s so much going on behind the scenes that people don’t realize.”
Cena went on to explain that filming intimate scenes feels anything but intimate. “It’s entirely artificial. There’s nothing real about it. So yeah, it’s really embarrassing.”
In response to Schumer’s humorous comments about their bedroom scene, Cena later fired back with a playful joke on Instagram.
Schumer later posted a video of herself lying in bed, jokingly captioning it, “John, how dare you.” She humorously admitted that the intimate scene meant a lot to her, adding, “I was totally into it. I’m in love with you.”
At the time of filming, John Cena delayed telling his then-girlfriend, WWE superstar Nikki Bella, about the intimate scene.
Cena later acknowledged that Nikki had every right to be upset, admitting, “I always avoided bringing it up to her, and I should have been more open about it from the start.”
In a separate interview, Schumer claimed that part of filming the scene involved actual physical contact between herself and Cena, further fueling public curiosity about their on-screen chemistry.
During an appearance on an Australian talk show, Schumer was asked how she managed to keep a straight face while filming the scene.
Without hesitation, she jokingly replied, “The penetration was real—he was physically inside me. Who am I to stop him?”
Photos and clips of the remark quickly went viral across social media, sparking backlash as many fans and viewers did not find the comment humorous.
In the same interview, Bill Hader lightened the mood with a joke, saying that wrestlers like Cena don’t have to “pretend” because their actions are always real, unlike in acting where performance is everything.
After spending nine months in orbit, Williams and Wilmore aged approximately 0.0075 seconds less than people on Earth due to time dilation.
A well-known example of this phenomenon is seen in the case of NASA astronauts Scott Kelly and his identical twin, Mark Kelly.
Scott, who spent significantly more time in space than Mark, returned to find himself effectively 6 minutes and 5 milliseconds younger than his Earth-bound brother, highlighting the subtle yet fascinating effects of time dilation in space travel.
Responding in the same playful tone, Schumer flashed a mischievous grin and repeated, “It’s real.”
Schumer’s recent comments about Trainwreck have reignited widespread interest in the film, as audiences remain intrigued by its most talked-about and controversial scene
