Tracy Morgan has offered an update on his health after he was worryingly removed from a New York Knicks game after vomiting.
The 56-year-old comedian’s evening at Madison Square Garden took a shocking turn when spectators saw him slumped in his seat, clearly unwell.
Eyewitnesses on X (formerly Twitter) reported that Morgan was bleeding from his nose and struggling to stand before being escorted away in a wheelchair.
A fan, @realJoshieBrown, shared video footage showing Morgan wiping his face with a towel as several MSG staff members rushed to his aid.
The game was briefly paused for 10 minutes during the third quarter while medical personnel attended to Morgan and cleaned up the area on the court, according to Fox News.
A man seated next to Morgan, wearing a black T-shirt and blue Knicks hat, appeared deeply concerned as the situation unfolded.
After the incident, MSG released a statement through The New York Post: “We hope Tracy feels better soon and look forward to seeing him back courtside.”
Knicks player Josh Hart also took a moment to recognize Morgan’s long-time loyalty to the team, expressing his well wishes after the Knicks’ 116-95 win: “We hope everything is good with Tracy Morgan, an avid lifetime Knicks fan, so prayers go out to him and his health and safety.”
Morgan, a familiar face courtside at Knicks games, had even been seen earlier that evening sitting next to Yankees star Aaron Judge.
The day after the scare, Morgan provided an update to his fans on Instagram with his signature humor. “Thank you for all your concern! I’m doing ok now and doctors say it was food poisoning,” he shared, alongside a photo of himself giving a thumbs-up from his hospital bed.
Morgan also took a moment to thank the Madison Square Garden staff who cared for him and gave a special shout-out to the clean-up crew. “Appreciate my MSG family for taking such good care of me and I need to shout out the crew that had to clean that up. Appreciate you!”
To address this issue, Dr. Berg recommends taking magnesium glycinate, but he advises consulting with a healthcare professional before adding any supplements to your routine.
Another common reason for waking up at the same time each night is low blood sugar.
Dr. Berg cautions that a diet high in carbohydrates can lead to blood sugar spikes, and when blood sugar drops too low during the night, the body releases cortisol to compensate, which can disturb your sleep.
“Eating a lot of carbohydrates and starches can also contribute to a magnesium deficiency,” he explains.
If your diet includes excessive sugar, carbs, MSG, alcohol, or late-night snacking, you could be unknowingly disrupting your sleep cycle.
Even consuming too much protein late at night can interfere with sleep.
To prevent this, Dr. Berg recommends having your last meal in the late afternoon whenever possible.
Always quick with a joke, Morgan even humorously suggested that his sudden illness could have been a good omen for the team. “More importantly, the Knicks are now 1-0 when I throw up on the court, so maybe I’ll have to break it out again in the playoffs #goknicks,” he quipped.
While this incident seems to have been caused by food poisoning, Morgan has faced much more serious health challenges in the past.
In 2010, he underwent a kidney transplant due to complications from diabetes. Then, in 2014, he survived a devastating car crash on the New Jersey Turnpike when a Walmart truck collided with his limousine.
His close friend and mentor, James McNair, tragically lost his life in the accident, while Morgan suffered a broken leg, spent two weeks in a coma, and endured five months in a wheelchair, relearning how to walk and talk.
Last year, Morgan reflected on his remarkable recovery while attending SNL50, the 50th-anniversary celebration of Saturday Night Live.
“Just thank the Lord that I’m a part of this, that I survived the accident and I’m alive to be here for this,” he shared with SNL50: The Red Carpet Special host Matt Rogers.
More recently, Morgan grabbed attention for his use of Ozempic, a medication for type 2 diabetes that’s also become popular for weight loss.
“Ozempic did great by me, and I was glad to use it,” he told E! News in March 2024, joking that it helped curb his appetite: “Now I only eat half a bag of Doritos.”
