On Friday, President Donald Trump experienced an unforeseen moment of slapstick humor when a boom microphone accidentally struck him in the face.
The microphone, fitted with a furry windscreen—industry slang for which is ‘dead cat’—grazed the 45th and 47th president’s mouth and then slid across his face, prompting him to instinctively recoil and close his eyes.
President Trump’s facial expression seemed one of surprise and confusion as he shot a glare at the reporter who caused the incident, then raised both eyebrows.

As the microphone was swiftly pulled away, President Trump couldn’t resist commenting on the moment, delivering 12 words that underscored the impact of “booping” the President of the United States with a mic.
“She just made television tonight. She just became a big story tonight,” Trump joked, seemingly addressing the reporter responsible for the mic mishap.
Still laughing, he turned to someone off-camera and asked, “Did you see that?”
The identity of the media outlet behind the boom mic operator remains unclear, though such microphones are typically used to capture clear audio near the loud engines of Air Force One and Marine One.
Unfazed, Trump proceeded to answer questions before heading aboard Air Force One.
Social media was abuzz with reactions to the moment.
After the footage quickly went viral on X, people had plenty to say about the incident.
“That look after the incident,” one person tweeted, referring to Trump’s side-eye.
“Omg, I bet the person holding the microphone was super embarrassed,” another wrote, with a third adding, “Her life will change forever after this unfortunate decision. She’ll find out that actions have consequences.”
Others, however, believed the knock was intentional and even called for the reporter’s arrest.
“She needs to be arrested! It was on purpose,” one X user wrote, with another agreeing, “Arrest her NOW.”
“That looked deliberate,” tweeted one user, while another added, “That definitely was on purpose.”
A concerned individual also tweeted, “Secret Service better tighten up. Why wouldn’t this be a possible dry run for something more serious… like a chemical or germ-related threat?”
Minor Stumble Before Takeoff
Just minutes before the mic incident, Trump experienced another brief moment of awkwardness—this time on the steps of Marine One. While assisting X, the four-year-old son of Tesla and DOGE chief Elon Musk, onto the helicopter, Trump’s right foot got caught on the first step.
He quickly recovered and continued up the stairs without any further issues.
Despite the minor mishaps, the president pressed on with his schedule, demonstrating once again that he knows how to take a hit—whether from political opponents or an overeager microphone.
